Biofeedback & The Modern Condition
We are all born with the most magnificent machine ever imagined
– our own body! Unfortunately our body doesn’t come
with an instruction manual or suggested maintenance schedule.
All day long our bodies are subject to good and bad stress –
the ringing telephone, a smile an unkind word. We only become aware
of it when it reaches a certain intensity – a pounding heart,
sweating hands, muscle tension. The medical world realizes that
stress is a major cause of disease. A direct relationship exists
with heart disease, ulcers and numerous vague ailments. The toll
of distress is monumental in both dollars and lives.
Our health and well-being can be compared to a three legged stool;
one leg is medical procedures and surgery; the second is Pharmaceuticals;
and the third leg is self-care. As our knowledge of the human body
has grown, so has our appreciation of the third leg, self-care.
We now understand the brain’s role in controlling our breathing,
heart rate and other subconscious biological functions.
We have discovered that with training, we can control many of biological
functions and improve our own health through coaching and therapy
techniques known as biofeedback/ bilateral stimulation.
Biofeedback is a series of non-invasive training exercises using
sophisticated computer graphics and sound to teach you to control
your own body. The first step is an assessment to determine the
method which will be most effective for you. Then, through a serices
of sesions, you will learn to consciously alter factors such as
skin temperature, muscle activity, sweat gland activity, heart rate,
blood pressure, respiration and brainwave patterns, and to discover
the effects these have on your stress level.
The goal of biofeedback to to train you to be in control. I use
it in coaching when it is indicated with:
- Performing Artists along with the Role Change Assessment and
bilaterteral stimulation for peak acting and enrollment performance
- Businessmen
- Athletes
- Students to reduce stress in school and for exams
- For coaching in stress reduction and increased productivity
- Many professionals sports teams and performing artists use
Biofeedback for peak performance training.
- Other uses for this technique include personal growth and meditation
Biofeedback and bilateral stimulation are non-invasive techniques
which prove most effective in the following individuals
- Highly motivated clients who wish to take an active part in
their health care
- Difficult clients that do not see how thay can help themselves
- TYPE A PERSONALITY CLIENTS THAT NEED TO LEARN RELAXATION
The great thing about my combination techniques is that you can
change your life without drugs. And you can learn the technique
often in only 6 sessions. I’d be happy to give you a demonstration.
