Coaching for Kids
It is a common misconception that children are resilient and that
their reactions to trauma and disasters are fleeting. As a result,
their psychological and emotional needs may be neglected following
a stressful incident, particularly when the adults around the child
are having trouble coping with the event themselves.
Parents, teachers, and other adults around the child may not realize
the extent of the child’s distress or his need to consult
with a professional. In addition children and adolescents are hampered
in the help-seeking process by their developmental status, and lack
of experience about how to seek help.
Child coaching can improve a child's ability to solve problems,
set goals, take tests, and an array of many other age-appropriate
developmental tasks.
